King George Health Department Tdap Immunizations

The King George Health Department will provide required Tdap immunizations for rising 6th grade students at each of the elementary schools in King George. All 6th grade students must have a tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) booster shot in order to start school. Students will not be allowed to start school unless they comply with this legislation by August 14, 2017 which is the first day of school. Please complete the consent form at the bottom of this page. The vaccine is free, however, your private insurance/Medicaid will be billed an administrative fee. Parents will not incur any cost for this service.

Kindergarten Open House March 31

We will host Kindergarten families at all elementary schools on Friday, March 31 from 9:30 - 11:00 am. Parents will learn all about their perspective schools and kindergarten programs while the children will get to experience typical classroom activities. In order to complete the registration process, all families, including our current pre-school students as well as siblings of currently enrolled students, must bring the following with them to register:
- Parent's Photo ID
- Child's Original Birth Certificate
- Child's Immunization Record and School Entrance Physical
- Proof of Residency in King George County (two required, such as mortgage docs, lease, utility statement, etc.)

VDOE Office of Assessment Development is seeking nominations for the 2017 SOL Item and Test Review Committees. All individuals who wish to serve on the committees, including those who have previously served, must submit an online application through the Assessment Committee Application Processing System. Completed applications are due by March 3. See Superintendent's Memo 013-17 for committee dates, requirements and application link.

Public Hearing for Proposed 17-18 Budget, Feb. 23

Public Hearing for King George County School's 2017-18 projected revenue and funding requests will take place at the School Board Office 1st floor conference room, Thursday, February 23 @ 5:30 pm. Public comments from KGCS staff as well as the King George community are welcome.

RCC General Scholarship Application Deadline Extended

RCC has close to 100 scholarships totaling over $400,000 that can be used in addition to federal and state financial aid or used alone to offset the cost of tuition, fees, and books. The deadline to apply has been extended from today to Wednesday, February 22 at 11:59 pm. We have one easy, on-line scholarship application (www.rappahannock.edu/foundation/scholarships) that your students can complete in 30 minutes or less. The information provided in the application will match the student to all of the scholarships for which he or she qualifies.
