Benefits Available

Competitive Salary Scale: Experience based for all employees. Supplemental pay for advanced training, degree or National Board Certification.

Direct Deposit:
All employees are paid on the last working day of each month.

Retirement:
(VRS) Retirement contributions are paid by the division for all full-time employees.

Group Life Insurance:
(VRS) Paid by the division for all employees. Coverage is double the annual salary for natural death; four times the annual salary for accidental death.

Health and Dental Insurance:
(United Healthcare and Delta Dental): Plans are available to meet the needs of all employees.

Leave:
(Please see School Board policy GCBD-R for further clarification.)

  • Sick: All employees earn one day per month of employment.
  • Personal: All employees earn three days per school year. Unused personal leave converts to sick leave.
  • Family Medical Leave Act: Combined total of 12 weeks per year for all employees.
  • Military Leave:  Consists of up to 15 days paid leave per tour for military personnel.
  • Bereavement Leave:  All employees are entitled to three days for a death in the immediate family.
  • Annual Leave: Vacation days earned based on years of service for 12 month employees.
    • 6-36 months – 12 days (1 day per month)
    • 6-72 months - 15 days (1.25 per month)
    • 72 months and over – 18 days (1.5 days per month) 
  • Professional/Educational Leave: Granted for professional conferences and workshops for professional growth.

Tuition Reimbursement: Assists with graduate studies and recertification.  Funding is available on a pre-approved basis for professional staff and para-professionals.

Professional Development: Classes and workshops sponsored by the school division enable professional staff to receive recertification points toward license renewal.

Optional Benefits and Payroll Deductions are Available

Disability, Cancer, Accidental and Optional Life Insurance: AFLAC and Conseco.

Tax Sheltered Annuities and Roth IRA’s: Approved list available.

Virginia Credit Union and NSWC Federal Credit Union: Membership available. 

Sick Leave Bank: Open enrollment period to apply. October 1 – October 31. GCBD-R

COBRA Insurance: Enables former employees, retirees, spouses and dependents the right to temporary continuation of health coverage at group rates for a period of up to eighteen (18) months.  The Ceridian Company administers this coverage for King George County Schools.
