Health Services
Welcome to the KGCS Student Health Services Department. On this site you will find useful information pertaining to the health and wellness of the students and staff of King George County Schools.
Student Illness
If your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness, please contact the school nurse for guidance regarding when they may return to school. Students will be sent home from school and will remain at home if they have (this list is not all inclusive):
• Fever at or above 100.4 F: Child may return when fever free 24 hours without the aid of a fever-reducing medication.
• Repeated vomiting or diarrhea (more than once): Child may return 24 hours after vomiting or diarrhea has ceased.
• Strep throat: Child may return after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment and afebrile without fever-reducing medications.
• Pink eye: Child may return when asymptomatic or with clearance by a healthcare provider
• Ringworm: Child may return once receiving treatment, with lesions covered

Health Clinic Services
The following products have been approved for use by the School Health Advisory Committee and the Rappahannock Emergency Medical Services Council as first aid and illness treatments:

School nurses will do an assessment on students who visit the clinic, administer first aid as needed, and assist students in returning to class, ready to learn.
