Early Childhood Special Education
King George County Schools offers early childhood special education (ECSE) services in a preschool setting. We provide a continuum of developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children between the ages of 2 (by September 30) and 5 (and not age-eligible for kindergarten) that have identified disabilities or developmental delays.
Our program utilizes an inclusive Peer Role Model Program. By participating in the classroom activities, the peer model serves as a role model to the other students by demonstrating appropriate play, communication, and social skills.
If you suspect your child may have a disability, or if your child is preschool aged and has an IEP, please contact our office to schedule a meeting.

Head Start and VPI
Separate from our ECSE program, we offer Head Start and Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) programs to those who qualify. First time applicants must register online. For more information on VPI and Head Start, please visit the Virginia Department of Education website.
King George partners with Fredericksburg City Schools to provide Head Start and VPI utilizes the same application. If you are interested in either program, please complete the application here: Head Start and VPI Application.
