Following a 21-year drought, the King George volleyball team won its first Battlefield District championship since 1997 on Friday, beating the homestanding Courtland Cougars in five-sets (25–18, 26–24, 11–25, 22–25, 15–11).
Heading into the championship game, the Foxes’ confidence seemed to being soaring—and justifiably so—having beaten the Cougars (3–0) as well as Chancellor (4–1) on Wednesday at Courtland.
